In a bid to provide communication to all segments of the society, Mint Electronics, a city-based sister concern of Assam SAII Motors Pvt Ltd, has come up with a cell phone for Rs 499 for the first time in the country.
Unveiling the 'most economic' mobile phone here today, Company director Harshita Chhawchharia said besides colour display, the cell phone has FM radio, torch, polyphonic ring tones, battery charger and earphone.
'' We have heard about it many times before, but it is Mint Electronics that has successfully turned this dream into reality,'' Ms Chhawchharia observed.
She informed that the company was all set to deliver a range of feature-packed cell phones in a 'very realistic' price and was ready with nine variety of its product.
Providing a one year warranty, she said, the mobile phones would be available at all the leading outlets in Kolkata, North Bengal, Northeast, Assam and Orissa with its price ranging from Rs 499 to Rs 7050.
